Abstract


Scholarly journals have been in existence for over 340 years and in 1684 in England, the first medical journal, Medicina Curiosa was published. As we are cognizant of the fact that seminal objective of research in healthcare is to improve care of mankind but dissemination of research based information has been an age-old issue. It was early 1600 when it was found that lemon juice to be effective in preventing scurvy (caused by deficiency of vitamin C) but it took about 200 years for British Arm forces to adopt this intervention. We have no doubt about the magnitude of deleterious impact of such delays upon patient care.
