Abstract

Radiation oncology is a dynamic and complex field that combines advanced technological tools with medical science to treat patients with cancer1. For residents in radiation oncology, navigating the complexities of clinical practice, research, and professional development can be both rewarding and challenging2. One essential factor in ensuring the success and well-being of residents is the presence of mentorship programs. Mentorship is a critical component in training that helps guide residents through their clinical, academic, and personal journeys3. In the field of radiation oncology, where technological advancements and evolving treatment strategies constantly shape patient care, mentorship plays a particularly important role in developing the next generation of oncologists4,5.

This communication explores the significance of mentorship programs in radiation oncology residency, addressing the benefits to both residents and mentors.
