Imaging based diagnosis of Leigh`s Syndrome in a rural setup

Abstract

Leigh`s syndrome (LS) or Sub acute necrotizing encephalomyelopathyis a progressive neurodegenerative disordercharacterized by symmetrical spongiform lesions in the brainwith onset usually in infancy or early childhood. We report a case of Leigh’s syndrome in a 7 month old female first suspected on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of brain and confirmed on MR spectroscopy (MRS).
